Bodtker Grants (Arnold & Edith Bodtker Grants for Research and Internship)

About this program

The Danish American Heritage Society offers the Arnold & Edith Bodtker Grants—stipends of up to $5,000—to support scholarly and creative research and internships into Danish heritage and the Danish‑American experience, primarily to fund research travel to North America, Denmark, or other Danish‑related sites; projects using major Danish American archives are particularly encouraged. Applicants must be currently enrolled in or graduated from a university‑level institution (preference for currently enrolled undergraduates and graduate students); applicants based in Denmark must include a stay in the USA or Canada, and applicants in North America must include a stay in the USA, Canada, or Denmark. Applications (emailed to the grant coordinator) require a proposal, project description, tentative timeline, estimated budget, CV/resumé, contact information, and two letters of reference; awards may not be used for salary replacement or tuition, may sometimes fund publication/translation if an excerpt can appear in DAHS’s The Bridge, and recipients must submit a final report and an article to The Bridge within one year; deadlines recur March 15 (notification April) and September 15 (notification October).
