Botstiber Visiting Professorship / Botstiber Compact Seminar in Austrian Studies (UC Berkeley)

The Botstiber Institute for Austrian‑American Studies sponsors a Botstiber Visiting Professorship/Compact Seminar at UC Berkeley’s Institute of European Studies to fund a visiting professor who will teach a 2‑unit compact seminar and deliver a public Botstiber Lecture on the historical relationship between the United States and Austria (including lands of the former Habsburg Empire). The five‑week Spring 2027 appointment (Jan 12–Feb 13, 2027) requires in‑person presence in Berkeley, involves three hours/week of instruction plus office hours, and includes a salary to cover teaching, travel, and accommodation (amount unspecified; subject to California and U.S. taxes); the instructor must arrange their own travel, housing, and health insurance and may be asked to teach in German. Eligible applicants are associate or full professors with a permanent teaching position at an Austrian university in the Humanities or Social Sciences.
