Broussard Phoenix Fellowship

About this program

The Allen E. Broussard Phoenix Fellowship, administered by the Berkeley Law Foundation with support from the Broussard Scholarship Foundation, awards grants to incoming Berkeley Law students of color to encourage enrollment and support public interest work. Each entering fellow receives a first‑year grant to assist with tuition and/or living expenses, disbursed in two installments (half at the start of the first semester and half at the start of the second). Established in 1997 in response to Proposition 209 and renamed in 2020 to honor Justice Allen E. Broussard, the fellowship is open to applicants who are incoming first‑year students at Berkeley Law and requires submission of an application.
