Cancer Health Research Centers (CHERCs)

About this program

The American Cancer Society offers the Cancer Health Research Centers (CHERC) initiative, a $4.07M grant program to fund solution-based research addressing cancer health disparities, focusing on social and structural drivers across the cancer continuum. Priority areas include rural communities, early onset cancers, and racial/ethnic disparities, among others.

Eligibility is limited to independent researchers at US academic institutions or nonprofits, with encouragement for applicants from underrepresented groups and Minority Serving Institutions (MSIs). Previous CHERC awardees may apply for one competitive renewal, and the Center's PI must demonstrate a strong track record in cancer health equity research.
