Cardiothoracic Ethics Forum Scholarship

About this program

The American Association for Thoracic Surgery (AATS), with support from the Society of Thoracic Surgeons, offers Cardiothoracic Ethics Forum Scholarships of up to $10,000 for cardiothoracic surgeons and trainees to pursue formal biomedical ethics education at an approved North American ethics program. Recipients are expected to participate in ethics-related activities within cardiothoracic surgery organizations. Eligible applicants must be STS or AATS members, trainees in cardiothoracic training programs, or surgeons committed to cardiothoracic surgery, and should demonstrate scholarly activity, leadership potential, and interest in biomedical ethics. Applications must include a CV, selected educational program, budget, and a study plan; the application period opens September 1, 2026, and closes December 1, 2026.
