Carlton Fillauer Award for Outstanding Contribution to Prosthetics Science and Practice

The Orthotics & Prosthetics Foundation for Education and Research, sponsored by the Fillauer family, offers the Carlton Fillauer Award to recognize prosthetists and prosthetist‑orthotists for significant contributions to clinical care, research, and scientific dissemination in prosthetics; recipients receive a $5,000 taxable cash award (1099 issued) or may direct the funds to a prosthetics‑focused funding program, with presentation at the 2028 AOPA Annual Meeting. Nominations are solicited biennially and for this cycle are accepted 2027-04-06 through 2027-08-03 via the O&P Foundation Portal; submissions must include the nominee’s CV/resume and two letters of recommendation and be completed by 5:00 pm CT on the due date. Eligible nominees must provide clinical prosthetic care in the U.S. with ABC or BOC certification, have a minimum of ten years’ clinical experience, at least five years of active clinically relevant research, be an author/co‑author on a peer‑reviewed journal article, and not be employed by a prosthetic device manufacturer or distributor; the O&P Foundation Board may also nominate individuals.
