About this program

The Arthritis Foundation funds the Childhood Arthritis and Rheumatology Research Alliance (CARRA) to provide annual grants supporting research that improves treatments and quality of life for children with rheumatic diseases. Awards span multiple mechanisms—from small pilot grants (~$10–$50K) and biosample collection grants (~$50K) to large grants (~$100K), health equity and implementation grants, and career development awards (up to ~$375K)—to support diverse study types and stages. Applicants are investigators working in pediatric rheumatology (including fellows and early-career researchers) and projects are expected to leverage the CARRA network; specific eligibility and target career stages vary by grant mechanism.
