Centers of Excellence in Value Assessment

About this program

PhRMA Foundation funded four Centers of Excellence in Value Assessment with three‑year, $500,000 grants to support research, tool development, and partnerships that advance value-driven decision making and patient‑centered care. Awarded centers include PAVE (University of Maryland, Baltimore), pValue (University of Colorado School of Medicine), CEVA (Tufts’ Center for the Evaluation of Value and Risk in Health), and the Research Consortium for Health Care Value Assessment (Altarum and V‑BID). Supported work focuses on incorporating diverse patient perspectives, testing novel U.S. value‑assessment methods, expanding elements in cost‑effectiveness analysis, and identifying high‑ and low‑value clinical services. Grants were directed to established academic and research organizations with demonstrated capacity in value‑assessment research and stakeholder engagement.
