Central Chapter Grant — Illinois Native Plant Society

About this program

The Central Chapter of the Illinois Native Plant Society offers grants of up to $1,000 to support new, one‑time projects that promote conservation, study, restoration, or education related to Illinois native plants and natural communities. Eligible applicants include individuals and groups (adult and student), community organizations, prospective Eagle Scouts, Master Gardeners, environmental interns, and similar parties carrying out activities such as species studies, site inventories, invasive species control, prairie or reforestation projects, demonstration gardens, and educational events. Projects must occur within the Chapter’s Central Illinois service area (specified counties), cannot be multi‑year or continuation requests, must be completed within one year of approval unless an extension is granted, and funds may not be used for recipient organization overhead. Proposals are accepted on an ongoing basis with applicants notified within 60 days; application guidelines and forms are available on the Chapter website or from Edie Sternberg (EdieSternberg@aol.com, 217-632-3685).
