Cheryl L. Wase Memorial Scholarship for the Study of Archaeology

About this program

The Society for American Archaeology administers the Cheryl L. Wase Memorial Scholarship to fund undergraduate and graduate education in archaeology for women New Mexico residents, covering tuition, course fees, and books for classroom and field courses in accredited archaeology programs. Applicants must be women (18+) who are New Mexico residents enrolled or planning to enroll at Eastern New Mexico University, New Mexico State University, the University of New Mexico, or (graduate only) New Mexico Highlands University, pursuing a BA/BS in Anthropology with an archaeology emphasis or an MA/MS in approved archaeology specializations; awards are renewable (up to five years undergraduate, three years graduate) with continued enrollment and a 3.0 GPA. Required application materials include an application form, personal statement, proposed budget, statement of proposed study, two letters of recommendation, proof of NM residency, advisor confirmation of progress, and transcripts (plus SAT/ACT for high‑school applicants), and applicants must certify no adverse discrimination/disciplinary findings.
