China Public Policy Postdoctoral Fellowship

About this program

Rajawali Foundation Institute for Asia offers a single China Public Policy Postdoctoral Fellowship supporting up to two years of research in contemporary Chinese public policy, with a $65,000 annual stipend and a dedicated workspace. Applicants must have received a Ph.D. within five years in a relevant social science, demonstrate knowledge of Chinese and ability to work with original sources, and preference is given to scholars studying contemporary domestic politics, political economy, business–government relations, state–society relations, or China’s social, legal, and economic development (e.g., urbanization, reform, energy/environment, social welfare, civil society). Fellows are required to reside in the Cambridge area, participate in Center activities (including at least one research presentation and contribution to the Center’s publication program); foreign nationals must be eligible for J‑1 visa sponsorship and degree conferral must be completed by June 1 of the fellowship year. Applications are submitted online and must include a research proposal, CV, scholarly writing samples, and two letters of recommendation (all letters must be received for full consideration); note there will be no application cycle in AY2025–26.
