CIBA/YCC Travel Award (Ciba Young Scientist Travel Award)

About this program

American Chemical Society Younger Chemists Committee (YCC) and the CIBA Foundation fund the CIBA/YCC Young Scientist Travel Award to support travel for young and early-career chemists to present and participate at ACS national or regional meetings. Awards of up to $1,000 are made based on scientific merit and financial need and may be applied only to ACS meeting registration, travel, and accommodations; applications are due October 1 for meetings Jan 1–Jun 30 and April 1 for meetings Jul 1–Dec 31 (no late submissions), and awards cannot be used retroactively. Applicants must be current ACS members under age 40 who are in postdoctoral positions or within the first seven years of their professional career (PhD students are ineligible) and must not have previously received this award. Required materials include a completed application, brief biography, a 500-word statement of scientific and financial need, abstract/title of the presentation, CV, recent publication/presentation and awards history, and disclosure of other funding; preference is given to first-time ACS presenters and those who have not presented at major meetings since degree completion.
