About this program

Chesapeake Bay Trust, in partnership with the City of Gaithersburg, offers rebates up to $5,000 per property to offset installation of stormwater-management practices—such as rain barrels/cisterns, rain gardens, conservation landscaping, tree planting/removal, pavement removal, permeable pavers, and soil tests. Rebates follow specified per-practice allowances and minimums, are limited to actual eligible project costs (sales tax excluded), generally require pre‑approval prior to installation (soil tests excepted), and some practices (e.g., permeable pavers) have contractor or native‑planting requirements; projects must be completed within one year of application. Applicants must be property owners, renters with documented owner permission, or eligible not‑for‑profit organizations with property located within the City of Gaithersburg; funds are distributed on a rolling, first‑come, first‑served basis.
