Clinical Trainee Research Award (CTRA)

About this program

Magee‑Womens Research Institute (MWRI) and UPMC Magee‑Womens Hospital, supported by Magee‑Womens Foundation philanthropy, offer the Clinical Trainee Research Award to fund 12‑month, trainee‑led research projects that provide hands‑on grant‑writing and research training and promote scholarly output (past awards $2,500–$5,000). Requests for proposals are posted each spring and fall with award amounts, application instructions, and deadlines announced per cycle. Eligible applicants are UPMC Magee‑Womens Hospital residents and clinical fellows; applicants may submit only one application per 12‑month funding period and must write the proposal under a faculty sponsor with departmental/chair or fellowship/residency director approval. Awardees must conduct the 12‑month project under faculty supervision and submit a final project report and final financial report within three months of award completion.
