Comstock Grants

About this program

The Association for Frontotemporal Degeneration (AFTD) administers Comstock Grants to provide direct financial assistance to people affected by frontotemporal degeneration (FTD) and their unpaid care partners, supporting respite care, quality-of-life needs, and travel to AFTD educational events. Three grant types award up to $500 each: Respite Grants (up to $500 per family annually) for full‑time unpaid care partners; Quality of Life Grants ($500 per eligible individual, once per AFTD fiscal year July 1–June 30) for persons with a documented FTD diagnosis; and Travel Grants (up to $500 per family) to attend the AFTD Education Conference or other AFTD‑approved events. Eligibility requires documentation of an FTD diagnosis for the person served and confirmation of full‑time unpaid caregiving for Respite Grants; applications and printable forms are available online and awardees are reimbursed via online submission (AFTD no longer issues Visa cards as of July 1, 2023).
