The Mellon Foundation offers the Data Fluencies Dissertation Grants to support scholars in the humanities and social sciences who are researching innovative engagements with and resistances to our data-filled world. This initiative aims to foster interdisciplinary approaches that combine interpretative traditions with critical work in the social and data sciences to address issues like discriminatory algorithms, mis- and disinformation, and big data governance. Eligible applicants must focus their research on topics such as information integrity, public-interest technology, digital culture, or alternative epistemologies. Scholars in the humanities and social sciences are encouraged to apply for this grant, which provides up to $100,000 in funding.
