David and Beatrix Hamburg Award for Advances in Biomedical Research and Clinical Medicine

About this program

The National Academy of Medicine's David and Beatrix Hamburg Award honors innovative biomedical scientists whose discoveries, translations, or public‑health interventions have materially improved human health or reduced health inequities; the annual prize (established 2004) includes a medal and $50,000 and is presented at the NAM Annual Meeting each October. Nominations are solicited (site notes open until May 20). Eligible nominees are biomedical scientists recognized for exceptional discovery or translation with demonstrable impact on human health and/or health disparities; selection emphasizes innovative, pioneering, and interdisciplinary contributions and excludes individuals previously honored by a substantive international award.
