David and Beatrix Hamburg Award for Advances in Biomedical Research and Clinical Medicine

About this program

The National Academy of Medicine's David and Beatrix Hamburg Award honors innovative biomedical scientists whose discoveries, translations, or public-health interventions have materially improved human health or reduced health inequities; the annual prize includes a medal and $50,000 and is presented at the NAM Annual Meeting each October. Nominations are solicited (site notes open until May 20) and the award, established in 2004, is given to one or more scientists for pioneering, creative contributions with demonstrable impact; interdisciplinary collaborations and demonstrated reduction of health disparities are viewed favorably. Nominees must be acknowledged for unique contributions and must not have previously received a substantive international award.
