Dee Saunders Dundee Memorial Research Grant – Malacology Research Award

About this program

The American Malacological Society funds the Dee Saunders Dundee Memorial Research Grant to support malacological research conducted by individuals from groups underrepresented in the field, awarding up to $1,500 per project (typically 4–6 awards annually); institutional overhead is not permitted. Eligible applicants are AMS members affiliated with U.S. institutions who self-identify as belonging to underrepresented groups (including underrepresented ethnic groups, sexual orientations, and gender identities) and are graduate students, postdoctoral researchers, or within three years of their first professional position; research must focus on molluscan biology. Applications are submitted as a single PDF via the online form by the stated annual deadline (site lists March 31) and must include a 2-page research proposal (title, goals, methods, timetable, publication plans, budget and justification; literature cited may extend to a third page), required permits, and a CV; proposals should be developed with an advisor/mentor and are evaluated on novelty, feasibility, clarity, appropriate use of funds, and contribution to the applicant’s development. Awardees are encouraged to present results at an AMS annual meeting and must submit a short research summary for the AMS Newsletter within one year.
