Disaster Reimbursement Grants for Medical Care of Animals

American Veterinary Medical Foundation (AVMF) Disaster Reimbursement Grants reimburse licensed veterinarians for out‑of‑pocket expenses incurred while providing emergency veterinary care to animal victims in declared disaster zones, covering actual vendor‑purchased medical supplies (and modest boarding) with awards issued up to $7,500 per grantee (applications note requests can be up to $5,000); professional/staff time, overhead, equipment fees and taxes are not reimbursable and funds are limited/first‑come, first‑served. Applicants must be licensed veterinarians and members of the American Veterinary Medical Association; grants are awarded per clinic with only one application allowed per clinic, and each application must document care provided to animals affected by the specified disaster. Applicants who received AVMF disaster reimbursement within the prior 24 months or for the same disaster are ineligible. Applications (including W‑9 and required documentation) must be submitted via the AVMF portal within six months of the disaster; AVMF reviews applications and notifies applicants within 60 days and approved grantees must submit a written impact report within 60 days of receiving funds.
