About this program
The Association for Iron & Steel Technology (AIST) Foundation and Steel Manufacturers Association offer the Don B. Daily Safety Steel Intern Scholarship to support students pursuing careers in industrial safety. Up to two recipients receive a paid summer internship with a North American steel producer or industry supplier followed by a US$7,500 one-year scholarship.
Applicants must be full-time undergraduate or graduate students majoring in safety or industrial hygiene at an accredited North American university, hold citizenship in the United States, Canada, or Mexico, and have a minimum 2.5 GPA. Candidates must demonstrate a strong interest in steel-industry safety, submit a résumé, essay, transcript, and recommendation letter, and commit to completing the internship; applications for 2026–2027 are due October 14, 2025.
