Don Yoder Prize for the Best Graduate Student Paper in Folk Belief or Religious Folklife

About this program

The American Folklore Society’s Folk Belief and Religious Folklife Section offers the Don Yoder Prize, including a $500 honorarium, for an outstanding graduate student research paper on folk belief or religious folklife. Eligible papers must be in English, written after January 1 of the previous year, and may be published or unpublished. Applicants must submit a blind, fully footnoted paper of 8–36 double-spaced pages, a cover letter, 100-word biography confirming graduate student status, and a faculty sponsor’s endorsement by July 15. One submission per applicant is permitted; previous winners of the section’s graduate student prize are ineligible.
