Douglas Dockery Thomas Fellowship in Garden History and Design

About this program

Landscape Architecture Foundation offers the Douglas Dockery Thomas Fellowship in Garden History and Design, a $5,000 annual award supporting one graduate student’s study and research on the history and design of the American garden. Applicants must be graduate students who are U.S. citizens or permanent residents enrolled at a U.S.-based institution (international applicants are ineligible due to IRS restrictions) and may propose a broad project to be carried out at a U.S. institution. Applications must be received by the Landscape Architecture Foundation in Washington, D.C., by February 1 for the upcoming period of study; selection is conducted by a committee of experts and approved by the GCA Scholarship Committee. Only one GCA scholarship, fellowship, or award may be applied for in a given year.
