The American Academy of Periodontology Foundation offers the Dr. Mark K. Setter Leadership in Periodontology and Dental Implantology Award, a one-time $10,000 cash prize recognizing leadership that promotes periodontology and dental implantology. Applicants must be full-time periodontal residents at accredited U.S. programs as of the application deadline and must be nominated by their periodontal program director; applications are due June 1. Selection is based on demonstrated leadership—such as mentorship, promotion of advanced treatment planning and case acceptance strategies, and positive impact on how periodontology and implantology are viewed within their school—and the award recognizes leadership rather than clinical skill.
