Early Career Professional Travel Award (AFS Education Section)

About this program

American Fisheries Society Education Section offers a one-time Early Career Professional Travel Award of up to $1,000 to support one young professional’s attendance at the AFS Annual Meeting, aimed at recently graduated individuals (within five years post‑graduation) who have demonstrated contributions to education, outreach, and AFS service. Applicants must be AFS members and considered Early Career Professionals at the time of application (agency biologists, postdoctoral associates, and early career faculty are eligible), with preference for those presenting at the meeting, engaged in continuing education or outreach, and demonstrating financial need. Applications should be submitted electronically (single PDF preferred) and include a Letter of Interest addressing service to the Society/sections/divisions/chapters, reasons for attending, statement of financial need, and career goals; a current CV (degrees, publications, honors/awards, presentations); and the title and abstract of any contributed paper or poster, sent to daniel.weaver@maine.edu and erin.peterson1@maine.edu. The awardee will be notified by May 15 and is required to attend the Education Section Business Meeting to receive the award and to contribute to the Section’s winter newsletter.
