Edward Mallinckrodt, Jr. Foundation Grant Program

About this program

The Edward Mallinckrodt, Jr. Foundation provides grants to help early-career scientists establish research programs and obtain NIH R01 or comparable independent funding. Awards provide $75,000 annually for up to three years and are nonrenewable, with continued support contingent on satisfactory annual progress reports.

Applicants must be tenure-track faculty in their first through fourth year at U.S. institutions and hold an M.D. and/or Ph.D.; they may not hold a substantial independent research award such as an NIH R01. Institutions may submit only one proposal per session, and applications must include a lay summary, five-page technical proposal, NIH-format biosketch, institutional and collaborator support letters, and a detailed three-year budget; indirect costs are not covered.
