Emergency Readiness Grants

The Louisiana Endowment for the Humanities, with State support, is offering Emergency Readiness Grants to help cultural and humanities-based organizations across Louisiana’s 64 parishes reduce vulnerability to disasters and improve preparedness; awards of up to $5,000 may cover activities such as developing or updating emergency plans, staff training, insurance deductible support, IT migration to cloud, and physical repairs that reduce risk. Grants require no cost sharing, must fund allowable expenses within a one-year period of performance (which may begin up to 45 days after award), and applicants without an existing emergency plan must allocate a portion of their budget to plan development. Eligible applicants are humanities-focused 501(c)(3) nonprofits, public-facing units of accredited higher education institutions, state or local government agencies, and state- or federally-recognized Native American tribal governments operating in Louisiana; applications must include EIN, UEI, and IRS determination or equivalent and will be reviewed on programming record, alignment with permitted uses, location, and organizational impact.
