ESB Early Career Researcher Award

About this program

The European Society of Biomechanics (ESB) offers the ESB Early Career Researcher Award, a €3,500 honorarium and certificate to support costs such as grant‑writing consulting, mobility, or open‑access fees, recognising outstanding early‑career contributions to biomechanics and mechanobiology. Applicants must be ESB members in good standing for at least six months, have defended their PhD 2–7 years prior to the ESB conference date (career breaks considered), be first author on an abstract submitted to the ESB Congress, and apply via the Congress web portal by uploading the conference abstract, a 2‑page narrative CV (template) and a letter describing intended use of the award. Winners are chosen by an ad hoc Award Committee, are requested to deliver an award lecture at the following ESB Congress, and for WCB 2026 applicants must meet the WCB abstract deadline (2025‑12‑05), the award submission deadline (2026‑01‑31) and confirm they will attend and present in Vancouver if selected.
