Excellence in Education – Teacher Mini-Grant Program

About this program

Siouxland Community Foundation’s Excellence in Education Teacher Mini-Grant Program awards funds from its Endowment to support innovative TK–5 classroom projects that improve student learning, with awards up to $500 for individual teachers and up to $1,000 for teams or school‑wide projects. Grants may cover equipment, materials, and activities not typically provided by districts, and recipients must submit a final report; items purchased become school district property. Eligible applicants are TK–5 teachers and instructional staff in public, private, and parochial schools serving Sioux City, IA; South Sioux City, NE; and North Sioux City, SD, and all applications must be approved by the school principal; collaborative proposals are encouraged. Proposals are prioritized for reading initiatives, innovative approaches, increased student motivation and participation, expanded teaching strategies, and addressing current challenges; excluded are replacement electronics, non‑integral field trips, in‑service training, and applications from booster clubs or special interest groups, and only one grant is awarded per teacher per year.
