Fejos Postdoctoral Fellowship

About this program

Wenner‑Gren Foundation’s Fejos Postdoctoral Fellowship awards early‑career anthropologists up to $40,000 (a 9‑month stipend, prorated if shorter) to complete film, video, audio, or other public‑facing media projects that communicate completed anthropological research, with emphasis on innovative multimedia and ethical engagement; no institutional overhead is paid. Awards support final post‑production and completion (recipients may use part of the stipend for up to ~1 month of final data/footage collection), and up to four fellowships are granted annually. Applicants must hold a doctorate in anthropology or a related field (including qualified independent scholars), generally be within ten years of the PhD (caregiving exceptions possible), and propose projects based on research already completed (pilot or extended fieldwork is ineligible). Applications require multimedia samples, an abstract, project description, bibliography/filmography, and compliance with U.S. legal/OFAC requirements; prior Fejos recipients are ineligible.
