AFSA Fibromyalgia Research Grant

About this program

The American Fibromyalgia Syndrome Association (AFSA) offers one-time grants of up to $85,000 for one- to two-year, clinically focused fibromyalgia research, with up to $270,000 in total funding available. Projects should address therapeutic interventions, biological mechanisms, or clinically applicable diagnostic measures and must be patient relevant without duplicating ongoing AFSA-funded studies. Eligible principal investigators must be English-fluent M.D.s, D.O.s, or qualified Ph.D. researchers; Ph.D. applicants must partner with an experienced fibromyalgia clinician, and all proposals must include a clinician responsible for participant assessments. Applications, including signed Conditions of Award, are due March 1, 2026; indirect costs are prohibited, and studies involving behavioral, psychosocial, lifestyle, exercise, survey, rodent, or non-primary fibromyalgia research are ineligible.
