Frontier Award in Value Assessment

About this program

The PhRMA Foundation’s Frontier Award provides $500,000 over three years for empirical research applying published, patient-centered value assessment frameworks to health care interventions such as drugs, devices, or other technologies. Projects should include patient-reported clinical or economic measures, meaningful engagement with patient groups, and preferably real-world data, patient-collected data, or health preference evidence, with results disseminated through peer-reviewed publications and presentations. Applicants may be U.S. or non-U.S. citizens but must be full-time employees at accredited U.S. universities, eligible for independent external research funding, and committed to partnering with at least one patient group. Previous principal investigators from the PhRMA Foundation’s Value Assessment Centers of Excellence are ineligible.
