GA New Researchers' Scheme (New Researchers Award)

About this program

The Geologists' Association offers the New Researchers' Scheme, providing grants normally up to £600 to support fieldwork, geological surveys, laboratory visits and analyses for early-career researchers in any relevant earth-science field (radiocarbon dating requests are not accepted). A limited fund from the Middlemiss Bequest may be available to non-members specifically for Cretaceous fieldwork. Applicants must be UK university undergraduate or postgraduate students who are Geologists' Association members at the time of application, must not hold a doctoral degree or a tenured academic post, and preference is given to those with limited other funding. Applications require a supervisor’s letter of support, and successful applicants must submit a 500–800 word report to GA Magazine within 12 months (a full-length article for the Proceedings of the Geologists' Association may substitute).
