About this program
The Australian Systematic Botany Society (ASBS) offers the Gareth Nelson Award to honour Professor Gareth Nelson and to support postgraduate students and early‑career postdoctoral botanists conducting research in phylogenetic systematics and historical biogeography (including land plants, algae and fungi) within Australasia. Applications are accepted in a single annual round closing 14 September and use the same form as the Hansjörg Eichler Grants; applicants are considered for both awards concurrently. Applicants must be current financial members of ASBS, and detailed eligibility, grant size/duration, assessment criteria, required application components (e.g. final report, financial statement, images) and reporting conditions are provided in the ASBS grant guidance.
