GBS-CIDP Foundation Research Grants Program

About this program

The GBS‑CIDP Foundation International has committed $8 million to fund research supporting diagnosis, treatment, and cures for Guillain‑Barré syndrome (GBS), chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyneuropathy (CIDP), multifocal motor neuropathy (MMN) and related variants through multiple annual awards, including Discovery and Elevation Awards and the Benson Clinical Research Fellowship. The Benson Fellowship is a three‑year award (up to $150,000 per year) for clinicians or non‑clinical scientists in training or recently completed training who intend to pursue a long‑term research career in inflammatory neuropathy. Researchers may submit Letters of Intent and full proposals according to the Foundation’s annual cycle (general LOIs due Nov 1, full proposals due Jan 31, awards announced May 30); note that for 2027 the Foundation is accepting LOIs and applications only for Discovery and Elevation Awards. Benson applicants must submit a one‑page LOI by Sept 1 containing a one‑page CV, project title and contacts, sponsor/mentor, a 300‑word synopsis, up to five key publications, and brief career intentions; request application forms and full guidelines from grants@gbs-cidp.org or lori.basiege@gbs-cidp.org.
