GCA Awards for Summer Environmental Studies Scholarship

About this program

The Garden Club of America offers annual $3,000 awards to support undergraduate summer coursework or independent study in environmental fields, funding one Clara Carter Higgins scholar and one or more GCA Summer Environmental Studies scholars. Awards are intended to encourage environmental study and careers and may support topics beyond regular coursework (e.g., marine science, energy, ecology, hazardous waste). Eligible applicants are U.S. citizens or permanent residents who have completed their freshman, sophomore, or junior year and are enrolled at a U.S.-based institution; international students are ineligible. Applicants must submit a single application (applications for the Clara Carter Higgins, GCA Summer Environmental Studies, Elizabeth Gardner Norweb, and Mary T. Carothers scholarships are reviewed together) and have materials received by GCA Headquarters or submitted electronically by February 5 preceding the summer; selections are made by the GCA Scholarship Committee.
