About this program
The Planetary Society’s Gene Shoemaker Near-Earth Object Grants support amateur and professional astronomers conducting observations to discover, track, and characterize near-Earth objects, strengthening planetary-defense research. Funded activities may include submitting astrometric observations and determining asteroid properties such as rotation rates or binary status.
