Georg Forster Research Fellowship for Sustainable Development

About this program

The Alexander von Humboldt Foundation's Georg Forster Research Fellowship supports postdoctoral and experienced researchers from developing and transition countries to conduct research in Germany that contributes to the sustainable development of their region; postdoctoral awards provide €2,700/month for 6–24 months and experienced awards €3,200/month for 6–18 months, with family allowances, health insurance and travel subsidies, possible host research funds, and a pre-departure German course. Applicants must have above‑average qualifications and a record of peer‑reviewed publications; postdocs should have completed their doctorate within the last four years (or be within six months of completion) while experienced researchers should be within 12 years of their doctorate (with specific extensions in some fields). Applications are submitted online and require a short CV, research outline (max 5 pages), publication lists, doctoral certificate, and mandatory host statement plus two expert reviews uploaded by the host/reviewers before submission; previous Humboldt sponsorship is not permitted and selection is by independent peer review.
