Glushko Dissertation Prize

About this program

The Glushko-Samuelson Foundation and the Cognitive Science Society award up to five annual Robert J. Glushko Dissertation/Ph.D. Thesis Prizes in Cognitive Science, each including a $15,000 unrestricted award, a certificate, and three years of complimentary Cognitive Science Society membership, to recognize outstanding interdisciplinary dissertation research. Nominations (including self-nominations) are submitted via a Google application form and must include the nominee’s CV, the full dissertation, and a précis of no more than 4,000 words (figure captions count; references do not); nominators must arrange for two faculty letters of support to be emailed directly to cogsci@podiumconferences.com and only the first two letters received will be considered. Eligibility is open to any student whose dissertation research relates to cognitive science regardless of nationality or department, and winners must have received their PhD within two years prior to the January 19 nomination deadline (for the 2026 prizes, eligible PhDs were awarded between 2024-01-18 and 2026-01-19). Nomination period: 30 November 2026–19 January 2027, with awardees announced by May 2027.
