Grants for Medical Studies of Plant Medicines/Psychedelic Therapies for OUD (Etheridge Foundation)

About this program

Etheridge Foundation grants support medical research using traditional plant medicines and/or psychedelic therapies to treat or prevent opioid use disorder (OUD) and closely related conditions. Awards are evaluated on a rolling basis with frequent quarterly decisions and typically range from $10,000 to $50,000 (occasional larger awards); the program is currently closed and will re-open in January 2026. Eligible applicants are accredited institutions conducting human-participant medical studies (no animal research), and projects must substantively include plant medicines and/or psychedelic therapies and directly address OUD or closely related conditions; media projects are ineligible. Preference is given to nonprofit-directed studies and integrative approaches addressing underlying causes and mental health, though the foundation may at its discretion fund novel projects outside these criteria.
