Harold Blakemore Prize (Postgraduate Essay Prize)

About this program

The Society for Latin American Studies (SLAS) awards the annual Harold Blakemore Prize—a £600 award for the best postgraduate essay in Latin American Studies based on work undertaken as part of a PhD at a UK institution. Entries must be submitted by SLAS members registered on a UK PhD programme to slaslatam@gmail.com; winners and highly commended entrants may be invited to submit their essays to the Bulletin of Latin American Research subject to editorial review, and prize payments can only be made to UK bank accounts. Essays must be unpublished and not under consideration elsewhere, submitted in Microsoft Word, double-spaced, conform to the BLAR Style Guide, and be no longer than 8,000 words inclusive of notes and bibliography; the winner is normally notified about six weeks after the deadline.
