About this program

The Richard King Mellon Foundation’s Health & Well-Being program funds work that addresses social determinants of health in Allegheny and Westmoreland counties, with priority investment areas in Healthy People (chronic conditions, mental and behavioral health, maternal and child health), Healthy Communities (healthy eating, public places and open spaces, safe and stable homes, clean environments), and Advancing Science (basic and applied research, evaluation, translation, and responses to emerging issues). The Foundation favors projects that improve access, build provider capacity, expand prevention, support education and empowerment, or drive systems change, and it issues targeted Requests for Proposals for specific strategic topics. Applicants must submit a General Application via the Foundation’s online portal (accepting rolling submissions) and should demonstrate that proposed activities will benefit residents of Allegheny or Westmoreland counties; applicants may consult Foundation staff per the FAQs.
