About this program
The APA Foundation’s Helping Hands Grants provide up to $5,000 for medical-school projects addressing mental health and substance use disorders, particularly among underserved minority communities. Projects must be created and managed by medical students and may involve community agencies or existing medical-school outreach programs. Applicants must identify a continuing medical student as the project lead, and each project must be supervised by at least one psychiatrist. Applications open February 2 and are due May 1.
