Higher Education Grant Application Process

About this program

The Duke Endowment provides higher education grants limited by its Indenture of Trust to Davidson College (NC), Duke University (NC), Furman University (SC), and Johnson C. Smith University (NC). Grants support Academic Excellence (faculty recruitment/retention, campus infrastructure, innovative programs and curricula), Educational Access and Success (scholarships, financial aid, retention and graduation initiatives), and Community and Campus Engagement (programs addressing social issues and collaborative efforts across the four schools). Eligible applicants are only the four named institutions; requests are coordinated through each school's grant administration office and the Endowment’s Higher Education staff, with Trustees typically considering new requests two to three times per year. The Endowment does not fund individuals (including graduate students); current grantees should log in to edit applications or submit reports.
