Elsevier and The Combustion Institute co-sponsor the Hiroshi Tsuji Early Career Researcher Award, a US $10,000 annual prize recognizing excellence in fundamental or applied combustion science. It honors early career researchers who have demonstrably advanced a specific field of combustion research within four to ten years of completing a doctoral degree or equivalent, and more than one recipient may be named if equally deserving. Named for Professor Hiroshi Tsuji in recognition of his influential burner configuration, the award emphasizes impactful work in laminar and turbulent combustion. Eligible candidates must meet the 4–10 year post-PhD timeframe and demonstrate significant research contributions; consult the Combustion Institute call for nominations for submission procedures and required documents.
