Host A Speaker: Bring Maine Speaks to Your Community

About this program

The Maine Humanities Council’s Host A Speaker program supports one-time Maine Speaks events that bring a humanities speaker to communities across Maine to explore complex topics and broaden perspectives. Individuals and organizations may apply to convene community members for an event featuring one speaker from the Council’s roster. Applicants should articulate clear goals, demonstrate why the selected program fits their community, and show the capacity to organize and host the gathering. Applications are accepted August 12–November 16, 2026, with applicants encouraged to apply at least eight weeks before the event.
