About this program
The Ruth K. Broad Biomedical Research Foundation offers a one-year, $100,000 Human Brain Models Research Award to support innovative, pre-NIH research at Duke using human brain models, such as organoids, assembloids, or human brain material. Projects should advance basic understanding of human neurons and glia, particularly in neurodegeneration and Alzheimer’s disease. Applicants must be Duke University School of Medicine faculty proposing a unique, new direction for their laboratory; indirect costs and faculty salaries are not allowable. Applications are due February 1, 2026, for the July 1, 2026–June 30, 2027 award period.
