Humanities Tennessee Opportunity Grants

About this program

Humanities Tennessee awards Opportunity Grants of up to $2,500 to small Tennessee nonprofit organizations to support one-time or pilot public humanities projects that engage audiences’ skills of inquiry, analysis, and reflection and must involve a humanities scholar. Eligible applicants are Tennessee nonprofits with annual budgets of $150,000 or less (minor exceptions may apply), and projects must not fund advocacy, direct social services, building/restoration, acquisitions, individual fellowships, or ongoing/operational activities. The program is temporarily paused as of April 2, 2025 due to uncertainties in National Endowment for the Humanities funding; pending applicants will be contacted and prospective applicants should check Humanities Tennessee’s website or contact Melissa Davis (melissa@humtn.org) for updates.
