Internal Faculty Fellowships (Stanford Humanities Center)

About this program

Stanford Humanities Center, supported by the School of Humanities and Sciences, offers Internal Faculty Fellowships to support research and foster a diverse community of Stanford scholars. Eligible applicants are tenured or untenured academic council faculty, senior lecturers with continuing appointments (with Dean’s approval), and emeriti; other lecturers may apply as external fellows via a separate pool (external deadline October 1). Preference is given to those who have not previously held a Humanities Center fellowship; prior internal fellows may reapply in the fourth year or later, and all applicants must document eligibility with their department chairs and senior associate deans, with eligibility for faculty outside H&S subject to the relevant dean’s discretion. The 2026–27 application deadline has passed—check back in August 2026 for the next cycle; fellowships include stipends funded jointly by the Humanities Center and H&S.
