International Research Grant for Students and Early Career Professionals (ECPs)

About this program

The Society for the Advancement of Psychotherapy (SAP) offers the International Research Grant: a $1,000 lump-sum award to support completion of international or cross-cultural psychotherapy research, including research supplies, required training, or travel to present findings. Eligible applicants are SAP members who are graduate students or early career professionals (within 10 years of the doctoral degree), including U.S. citizens, permanent residents, and international students/affiliates. Applications (emailed to International Domain Representative Xu Li) must include a 1–2 page cover letter describing internationalization relevance and intended use of funds, a 1‑page detailed budget, a 5–10 page double‑spaced research proposal, and one letter of recommendation (supervisor/advisor for students or research mentor for ECPs). Recipients must present and publish results, acknowledge SAP, submit full accounting within six months of project completion (return unspent funds after two years), and comply with tax reporting (U.S. recipients file W‑9/receive 1099; some international applicants file W‑8BEN).
